There are calls to incentivise pensioners to keep on working amid a pandemic-induced labour shortage.

Currently, pensioners working more than one day a week at the minimum wage will have their benefits reduced.

Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO Andrew McKellar told Ben Fordham pensioners should be encouraged to rejoin the workforce to solve the “crushing labour shortage”.

“If people could work two or three days without being penalised I think that would be much better.

“We’re urging the federal government to give it a go.”
