The real number of Comm Games athletes and staff illegally in Australia revealed
The number of Commonwealth Games athletes and officials who’ve remained in Australia illegally has been revealed.
It was initially thought about 19 people had overstayed their visas but immigration officials have now revealed the true number is around 250.
About 200 of those are seeking asylum.
Border Force officers are currently working to track down those who are in the country illegally.

“Some of them disappeared after a couple of days in the Games. It’s not as if they stayed for the whole lot.
“A lot of them came, had a look and said, ‘wow this is pretty good’ and just hoofed it.
“I’m not surprised that it’s 200.”
On AGL rejecting Alinta Energy’s bid to purchase the Liddell coal-fired power station, Andrew Bolt says every day Australians will suffer.
“Why be pure about economics if the result will be that consumers suffer, businesses can’t afford the power prices and it’s just rigging the market?”
