The strange world of zoo ‘rehearsals’

Article image for The strange world of zoo ‘rehearsals’

Zoo animals are being readjusted to life with human visitors after months having their parks all to themselves.

Zookeeper at Featherdale, Mogo Wildlife Park and Hunter Valley Zoo Chad Staples told Jim Wilson it’s important to “ease everyone back into it”.

“The really intelligent [animals] are obviously the ones that miss people the most; great apes, big cats, even the small primates.

“Animals have got the exact same personalities people do.

“There are certainly people that don’t like other people, so there are animals that are the same, but there are some that just thrive on it.”
