A listener has spotted an advertisement on TV that has her concerned.

The ad for a gun expo at Rosehill Racecourse has prompted listener Maureen to contact Ben Fordham with her concerns.

“I cannot understand why people in Sydney would want to go to a gun expo to buy a rifle, a handgun, ammunition.

“The only people who should have guns are the police, the army and the farmers.”

National President of the Sporting Shooters Association Geoff Jones tells Ben “Maureen’s probably a little unnecessarily fearful”.

He says there is “enormous amounts of checking” when it comes to gun regulation in New South Wales.

“The safest place in Sydney this weekend will be at the gun expo, I can assure you of that.”

He assures Maureen NSW Police will be present.

“It’s all done under the control of NSW Police.”
