Ray Hadley has opened up about his daughter’s crippling medical condition in a bid to raise awareness about the disorder.

Endometriosis is often viewed as a taboo condition but it affects one in nine Australian women, with the average diagnosis taking seven to 10 years.

A new Australian study has revealed the disorder costs a sufferer an average of $31,000 a year.

Researchers are calling for immediate policy action to help women who suffer from the unbearable pain that comes with it.

Ray Hadley has revealed his daughter Sarah suffers from the debilitating disorder.

“My daughter was rushed to hospital for the second time in the last six months.

“She’s been putting up with it for a couple of years, a bit longer possibly, and I haven’t mentioned it because it’s her health concerns, not mine.

“But she said to me yesterday ‘dad, someone’s got to do something about this’.”

Medical Director of Endometriosis Australia Professor Jason Abbott tells Ray the disorder mainly affects women between the ages of 15 to 44.

“It can affect younger girls so we do see it in girls as young as eight and it does go on after menopause sometimes.

“It is as common as things like diabetes and asthma.”
