Ben Fordham is questioning the ABC’s latest claims of war crimes by Australian soldiers.

Mark Willacy, the journalist behind war crimes against the November Platoon, has created a new two-part series on the 7.30 program.

Part 1 features footage from inside a helicopter during an operation in Afghanistan in 2012 where an Australian soldier is shooting at targets on the ground.

Willacy acknowledges ABC hasn’t obtained “the image that comes immediately before this” but suggested the soldier is firing at “what appear to be unarmed civilians”.

He can’t say they’re unarmed, because he doesn’t know,” Ben said.

A conversation between soldiers about a “quota”, with the report questioning whether they’re referring to a “kill quota”.

“If there’s no proof, what’s the story?” Ben questions.
