Candice Warner has reflected on the futures of players involved in the 2018 ball-tampering scandal, including her own husband David Warner.

Debate reignited after Steve Smith was elevated to the vice-captaincy, while others involved in the scandal were rendered ineligible.

Candice told Mark Levy she agreed David has “a fantastic cricketing brain” and has proved his worth as a captain in the past.

“It is disappointing, because at this stage when David decides to retire from Test cricket, he won’t play Big Bash.”

After the cheating was revealed, Candice’s husband turned his attention to doing whatever he needed to do to stay in the Australian team.

“It would’ve been very easy to react … but David had a different plan, and he stuck to that plan, and that’s why he came back so successful.

“They’ve done their time.”
