Concerns are rising over the halting of timber harvesting in the Great Koala National Park.

Ray spoke to James Jooste, NSW CEO of the Australian Forest Products Association, as concerns grow NSW may follow in the footsteps of WA and Victoria to end native forest logging.

But as James revealed “only fourteen out of every ten thousand trees in the state forest are actually harvested,” and the industry already has provisions in place to ensure it is sustainably done.

Andrew Favelle, the Owner of Abbey Timber joined Ray to discuss the impacts a halt on harvesting will have on Australian timber supply and customers around the country.

“Since the logging closures…you’re paying one hundred per cent more in some cases for the same flooring,” Andrew said.
