‘This is urgent!’: Water holders refuse to support our farmers
Federal MP Sussan Ley is continuing her fight to establish an alternative water source for our struggling farmers.
The argument is simple – irrigators should be able to borrow environmental water so winter crops won’t perish.
If producers are able to tap into this essential water source it will not only help provide revenue for the farmer but also food for starving stock.
“We are hurting every single day.”
“We need this water borrowed, we’re not taking it from the environment. Everybody wins,” Ms Ley tells Alan Jones.
Despite the idea being a win-win for all, the regional Liberal MP says “the bureaucrats are moving at glacial pace”.
“Having been a minister, what I would respectfully say to all ministers is it’s very easy to have a table full of your department telling you why you can’t do something. Your question has to be, ‘How can we make this happen?’
“That’s what Donald Trump says, ‘Do it!’
“This is urgent!” says Alan.
