About 15,000 homes and business will be without power over the weekend in Sydney’s north after a severe thunderstorm.

The storm on Tuesday knocked down trees and powerlines across the city.

Ausgrid is warning customers to prepare for outages until Sunday as crews repair 1,800 hazards and rebuild the network in the worst-hit areas.

Businessman Erik Franko tells Ross Greenwood the lack of power is significantly affecting his operation.

“My biggest concern is… across the road all the cafes are out of business, the chemist, the doctors, the dentists, everybody, they’re all gone.”
