Thousands without power after deadly storm batters northern beaches

Thousands of residents on Sydney’s northern beaches have been left without power after a deadly storm swept through the area yesterday.

The powerful cell brought down hundreds of trees and powerlines, leaving thousands without electricity.

A woman has been killed and two others have been seriously injured by a falling tree at Narrabeen.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Andy Holland told Chris Smith SES is still to respond to about 200 calls.

“Our biggest concern at the moment is that we’ve still got power out to 26,000 homes in the area and probably more concerning is that power hasn’t come back on the main road.

“We’ve got generators working on the main intersections on Pittwater Road.”
