Tough new regulations will crackdown on drug drivers
Drug drivers will face the same penalties as drink drivers under new plans released by the NSW Government on Tuesday.
The plans have been announced in the wake of a horror summer on our roads.
Roads Minister Melinda Pavey says the government will look at the effects of prescription drugs on driving.
“In terms of prescription drugs…we have listened to the community concerns around methadone treatments…we’re going to have a review of that situation because we want to make sure we are doing the right thing.”
In addition to drug driving reforms, speed cameras will catch drivers using their phones and low range drink drivers will lose their licence on the spot.
Ms Pavey tells Ben Fordham more.
“We want to stop people driving immediately from a drink driving offence.”
