Ray calls for tougher penalties to protect frontline emergency workers
Police have charged 21-year-old Jordan James Fineanganofo over the murder of 29-year-old NSW Paramedic Steven Tougher, following the stabbing on Friday morning.
Ray Hadley believes that the NSW government needs to “take some action to better protect people like Steven and others”.
Assaulting frontline health or emergency services workers will be met with tough new penalties, including up to 14 years in jail, under laws that came into force in October of 2022.
“We will look at every measure possible, including increasing penalties, to make sure that we send a very clear message that this behaviour is not tolerated,” NSW Minister for Health, Ryan Park, told Ray Hadley.
