Early signs trade tensions between Australia and China are easing

Assistant Trade Minister Tim Ayers says there are potential signs of easing trade tensions between Australia and China.

Speaking with Deborah Knight, Ayers discussed the Australian government’s consistent efforts to resolve trade impediments with China, including high-level talks and ministerial meetings.

He highlighted the adverse effects these trade barriers have had on both Australian industries and Chinese consumers, stressing the need for a global system of rules-based trade.

Ayers refrained from making promises but remained optimistic about progress, stating that the removal of trade impediments and the return of normal trade would be the true measure of success.
