Blue-collar workers are increasingly turning to friends, family, and health professionals, signalling a shift in mental health perceptions in the trade sector.

The latest results from the annual Steel Blue ‘Boot the Blues’ campaign, in support of Beyond Blue, demonstrate a marked increase in mental health awareness and openness among tradespeople.

An encouraging 70% of respondents have now sought some kind of support, with 40% reaching out to friends or family, and almost 30% consulting their GP.

Peter Bell, CEO of Steel Blue Australi,a told Joe “Males are overrepresented in the suicide space in construction and trades, and it just makes sense to talk to
Beyond Blue.”

If you or someone you know needs help, please contact Lifeline 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636.
