Treasurer cautions Australia against being on ‘wrong side’ of net zero target
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg is arguing Australia must not be left behind in global plans to cut greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.
He says investors should invest “right across the board” to help strike a balance and remain profitable into the future.
Mr Frydenberg told Chris Smith changes are happening in financial markets as a result of climate talks.
“We don’t want to be on the wrong side of this.
“Investors are reassessing what they consider to be risk … we rely so heavily on foreign investment.”
He says “we are walking the talk” when it comes to reducing emissions.
