Treasurer says post lockdown recovery is ‘working’ and going ‘strongly’
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg believes the latest unemployment rate reflects a strong economic comeback after COVID.
The unemployment rate has remained at four per cent, despite nearly 18,000 extra jobs being added to the economy in March.
The Youth unemployment rate has come down to eight per cent whereas it was previously 12.7 per cent under Labor.
Mr Frydenberg told Luke Grant that the female unemployment rate has seen its lowest numbers since 1974.
“The female unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest level since 1974 at 3.7 per cent compared to Labor’s 5.7 per cent,” he said.
“The numbers do show our economic plan is working.
“The recovery post the lockdowns is happening pretty strongly.”
