Treasurer seeks free interstate movement before international travel ban lifts
Suggestions NSW residents will sooner be able to fly overseas than to another state have been rebuffed.
Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg reflected the Prime Minister’s “keenness” to see international borders reopen when the country reaches the 80 per cent vaccination threshold, but told Jim Wilson state borders must reopen too.
“We don’t want to see the bizarre situation where a Sydneysider could travel to Fiji before they could travel to Cairns, or before they could travel to Perth.
“It’s not the reality now, and we don’t want it to be the reality in three months’ time.”
