Twist of fate credited for leading Ugandan doctor to Australia

Respected Sydney surgeon Dr Kiran Phadke is describing his move to Australia as fate on the 50th anniversary of Ugandan refugees fleeing Down Under.
The President of Uganda, Idi Amin, ordered the expulsion of 50,000 people from Uganda in 1972.
Dr Phadke would have been allowed to stay because of his profession but, instead, he chose to find a new home in Australia.
He had initially planned to go to Canada, but an Australian immigration official offered him a visa.
“I’ve never returned to Uganda, ever,” he told Ben Fordham.
“I loved Australia from the moment I got here.”
