Tasmanian Police have now confirmed four Year 6 students are dead and four others are in critical condition after falling from an airborne jumping castle in Devonport.

The jumping castle erected at Hillcrest Primary School was blown into the air this morning by a strong wind gust, lifting it up to 10 metres.

Nine News reporter Rachel Baxter told Chris O’Keefe more police and forensic detectives have arrived on the scene.

“The jumping castle … is tangled up in the tree, quite high up, so you can see how dangerous that would’ve been.”
