UN trip cut short after more NSW prisons send them packing
The United Nations is on its way home after another failed attempt to enter NSW jails.
Ben Fordham has revealed four UN officials were turned away from Mary Wade Correctional Centre in Lidcombe yesterday.
They then tried their luck at the men’s maximum security prison in Silverwater Jail where they were again denied entry.
The UN delegation said in a statement, “It is deeply regrettable that the lack of cooperation, especially with respect to NSW and Queensland, has compelled us to take this drastic measure”.
“Despite our best efforts- the 12-day visit has been compromised to such an extent that we had no option to suspend it.”
