‘Unbelievable’: Minister calls for better action as local sporting grounds continuously close
Families involved in community sports are reportedly ‘fed up’ with local councils closing facilities and cancelling weekend sports across Sydney despite the sunshine.
Only venues with synthetic turf, indoor facilities, or sufficient drainage systems were left open for the weekend.
NSW Shadow Local Government Minister Greg Warren told Mark Levy it’s not good enough.
“We’ve had a couple of years of not being able to play sport … we need to see a far more engaged approach from our sector,” he said.
