‘Utter absurdity’: Candidate taking on Zali Steggall calls out health gender bungle
Liberal candidate for Warringah Katherine Deves said Australians are seeing the fallout from amendments made to the Sex Discrimination Act “in the dying days of the Gillard government.”
On Saturday, Ms Deves was chosen as the Liberal candidate for the seat of Warringah which was the seat formerly held by Prime Minister Tony Abbot.
Ms Deves said Australians are facing an “utter absurdity” of confusion around the definitions of male and female.
She has been a long-standing advocate for the rights of women in sports and told Luke Grant, “With respect to sport, it comes down to the quality and fairness”.
“The majority of Australians agree that women and girls should have the right to a dedicated female sports category”.
