Peter Dutton has called out “very disturbing” comments made by the Turkish President, threatening the lives of Australians.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was heavily criticised after he warned Australians with anti-Muslim views would be returned home in coffins like the ANZACs.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison dragged the Turkish ambassador into his office yesterday but publicly tried to ease tensions.

President Erdogan’s office has since tried to claim the comments were taken out of context.

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton tells Ray Hadley it was “a very disturbing” and upsetting statement.

“The comments were dangerous and they were called out.

“If there’s an apology and a back down I think that’s entirely appropriate.”
