A woman scammed out of thousands of dollars by someone pretending to be her son, is sounding the alarm so others don’t fall victim.

Jan Lenton received a WhatsApp message appearing to be from her son saying he had a new phone number and needed her to transfer money.

Jan told Ben Fordham it was so convincing that she sent $4500.

“I fell for it, I can’t believe I did it, I feel so stupid.”

Ms Lenton said she is using her example as a warning for others.
