New Zealand Warriors CEO Cameron George has praised star halfback Shaun Johnson after his wife finally gave birth to their second child.

It comes after Johnson almost missed his 200th game for the club last week in the win over Parramatta due to his wife Kayla, expecting in New Zealand.

George praised Johnson, who earlier this week penned a one-year extension to play on for the club next season.

“I’m giving you a scoop here, but Shaun Johnson’s wife had a baby daughter,” George said.

“When things were up in the air last week, his wife Kayla told him to go to Parramatta but you’ve got to come home with the win.

“It was a special milestone for Shaun hitting 200 games for the club.

“I’m so proud for him and his family that they’ve been able to get that done and have a special moment over the past 24 hours.”
