WATCH | Footage of teens allegedly inside stolen ambulance in police chase
Three teenage boys have been charged over a high-speed police pursuit of an ambulance in the state’s north-west.
A Ben Fordham Live listener detailed the high-speed chase, which had made its way to Bourke, live on-air.
Ben Fordham has obtained footage of the teens allegedly inside the stolen ambulance.
Police say five people armed with knives broke into a home in Bourke in the early hours of Thursday morning and allegedly stole cash and a Holden Commodore which was parked outside.
Shortly after, the car was found abandoned in Brewarrina and a second home was broken into and an ambulance was allegedly stolen.
Police initiated a pursuit but it was abandoned after the ambulance crossed onto the wrong side of the road and was deliberately driven towards a police car.
Bourke Shire Council Mayor Barry Hollman told Ben Fordham two of the boys were on bail at the time.
“When we have a system that lets repeat offenders back … it’s just not good enough.
“Our judicial system is letting communities down.
“Change the system, it’s not working!”
