Ray Hadley and John Laws have a long and chequered history.

After beginning his career at 2UE under the great radio broadcaster, Ray moved on to bigger and better things at 2GB.

Over the years, the two haven’t always seen eye to eye but Ray has always held an enormous level of gratitude towards his former mentor.

He showed that with this heartfelt message on Laws’ 83rd birthday.

“Someone who I’ve had a long association with dating back to virtually the start of my radio career, John Laws, was born on this day in 1935 meaning John today is turning 83.

“Without doubt the greatest broadcaster that I’ve had an association with over a long period of time.

“We’ve had our differences over a long period of time but I wish him a very happy birthday on this particular day.”
