Wedding industry ‘screwed’ in NSW reopening plan
The wedding industry is slamming the state government after it unveiled its plan for reopening at 70 per cent fully-vaccinated.
Under the plan, weddings will be allowed to have 50 people, with dancing permitted.
Restaurant and Catering Association CEO Wes Lambert told Deborah Knight they will be pressing the government on a change to the guest limit.
“The wedding industry was frankly screwed in this roadmap.
“It is nowhere near enough for that industry to recover.
“To have decimated one particular industry while you’re allowing thousands of people at ticketed events … it is certainly seen as unfair by that industry.”

Sydney restaurateur Peter Lew, meanwhile, described the roadmap to Jim Wilson as “fantastic news”.
“The majority of staff are ready to come back. We have a lost a couple of key staff … they haven’t been able to wait.
“Making sure everyone’s double-vaxxed … gives me a bit of uncertainty, but at the end of the day we just have to pull up our socks and go with it.”
