Farmers have told the government more cash injections are needed in order to help them fight the drought.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, Drought Minister David Littleproud and Barnaby Joyce visited Inverell in northern NSW to see the impact of the drought.

Farmers Ben and Sandy Swan hosted the ministers on their 150-year-old property, pleading for more funding to help them out of tough times.

Mr Swan tells Ross Greenwood they won’t be able to plant any summer crop.

“There’s never been anything like this in history. We’re in trouble up here.

“The first week in October is when we’re normally planting summer crop.

“We haven’t got any moisture and no forecast of rain.”
