Wesley Mission closure forces nearly 200 residents to find new homes
Wesley Mission has announced the closure of three aged care homes in Sydney due to sector problems, forcing residents to find available accommodation.
The not-for-profit provider’s facilities at Sylvania, Carlingford and Narrabeen are expected to close at the end of May, but not until all 199 residents have found new homes.
“We absolutely will not close the facilities until every resident finds an appropriately matched accommodation that meets their care needs,” Wesley Mission CEO, Rev Stu Cameron told Michael McLaren
Mr Cameron said the difficulty of finding workers and the government implementing staff ratio requirements has forced the closures.
“We are not the first provider to make an announcement like this and we won’t be the last,” said Cameron.
