While NSW has hit its 70 per cent fully-vaccinated milestone, only 50.1 per cent of eligible West Australians have received both doses.

“Those numbers are simply embarrassing”, Jim Wilson commented.

Perth-based infectious disease physician Dr Clay Golledge told Jim the state’s “secessionist mentality” is partly to blame for the thousands of disused appointments and deserted mass vaccination clinics.

“We’ve got a bit of a Mexican standoff here in WA.

“We’re run by a very omnipotent, powerful Premier who is terrified of … mass deaths if COVID gets in, which is not going to be the case at all.

“What this has bred is this sort of phenomenon of complacency.”
