A new survey has found half of Australians with private health insurance no longer believe it’s worth the expense.

The results have been released less than two weeks before insurance premiums are due to rise by 3.9%.

Health Minister Greg Hunt tells Alan the government is trying to make private cover more affordable.

“There is no question the average rise now, and it will vary in individual cases, is the lowest in 17 years.

“But, we will keep fighting for lower premiums.”

The Minister also claims he is cracking down on companies doing the wrong thing.

“I have reported Bupa to the private health insurance ombudsman, the tough cop on the beat.”
