Wheat prices at ‘record highs’ for battling farmers
Some NSW farmers are benefitting from a bumper crop, while others have had their crop battered by floods.
A record 58.4 million tonnes of grain is expected this winter.
Walgett farmer Jamie Warden told Ben Fordham while other farmers are struggling due to the floods, they’ve been lucky.
“Prices are at record highs – we’ve sold wheat for $400 a tonne, generally speaking that same crop last year was bringing about $370- $380.
“Coming out of six to seven years of pretty hard drought, we need that money to keep ourselves afloat.”
