Why a principal introduced vape detectors to catch students smoking
A high school principal has taken vaping matters into his own hands by placing detectors in bathrooms to catch students smoking.
Plumpton High School principal Tim Lloyd took it upon himself to tackle the scourge to help students understand the dangers.
The detectors are similar to a smoke alarm and Mr Lloyd told Jim Wilson the reason for their implementation of them is to educate the kids to make the right decisions in the long term.
“It’s about providing a comprehensive strategy for kids so that were informing kids what about the harmful effects of vaping and smoking are,” he said.
“We’re trying to provide comprehensive education and comprehensive strategy so that we can proactively support kids in having great life-long wellbeing habits that they develop.”
Host of Healthy Living on 2GB Dr Ross Walker told Jim the long-term health impacts could lead to heart disease.
