Why Shadow Cyber Security Minister believes Optus breach is a ‘lesson’ for other companies
Shadow Cyber Security Minister James Paterson believes companies should use the Optus data breach as a lesson.
Australia is working with the FBI to track down the person or people responsible for the cyber attack on Optus.
The alleged hacker has apologised to customers and the telco and claims stolen data has now been deleted.
The information of more than 10 thousand customers had already been uploaded to the Dark Web.
Shadow Minister James Paterson told Jim Wilson that companies should “think carefully” moving forward.
“All of these companies need to think very carefully, do they actually need this data and if they do then it should be stored in the most secure encrypted and password protected way.”
