Why we are seeing ‘less and less’ ATMs across the country
There are a reducing number of ATMs across the country and Australian Banking Association boss Anna Bligh says it’s due to people using them “less and less”.
She told Deborah Knight it is due to a “massive transformation” of customers relying on online banking.
“It’s a very hard transition for all of us to make, but most of us are now using our banking services 24 hours a day.”
Ms Bligh said individuals are “effectively carrying a bank branch in our back pocket.”
“1 in 3 Australians with a smartphone now regularly use that phone to make payments and it’s only going to get faster.”
