Wogboy star warns other comedians not to use his trademarked word ‘wogs’
Actor and comedian Nick Giannopoulos is warning others in the industry to stop using the word ‘wogs’.
The Wogboy star has reportedly sent legal letters to other entertainers asking them not to breach his trademark in marketing their shows.
Giannopoulos trademarked the words ‘wogs’ and ‘wogboys’ back in the 1990s to protect his business interests.
Italian-Australian comedian Gabriel Rossi has performed a comedy show called A Very Woggy Xmas for 18 years. He’s now been forced to change the title of his show to A Very Ethnic Xmas.
Gabriel tells Ben Fordham he thinks what Nick is doing is ‘quite petty’.
“There’s a sense of being bullied into submission.
“The word was around long before he started comedy.”

Former Labor powerbroker Graham Richardson also thinks the story is completely ridiculous.
“You can’t stop this sort of thing.
“I get annoyed with this kind of thing lately. There’s always a way to find offence, there’s always a way to try and stop us having some fun. I want to keep laughing.”
Political commentator Peta Credlin agrees, telling Ben we should just let the comedians entertain us.
“I’m not a fan of this constant commercialisation of our speech.”
