Woman charged over shocking acid attack on ex-husband
A woman is accused of a shocking attack in Sydney’s western suburbs, allegedly throwing a type of acid in her ex-husband’s face.
The vicious encounter happened at the man’s workplace in Silverwater on Monday afternoon.
Police believe the pair got into an argument, with the 55-year-old woman allegedly leaving the room before returning with a mug of corrosive fluid.
She allegedly threw the chemicals in her 58-year-old ex-husband’s face, burning his eyes.
He’s in a stable condition in hospital but is undergoing testing to determine whether his sight has been damaged.
Inspector Chris Laird says they’re yet to identify the liquid.
“We believe it’s probably some sort of caustic fluid which you can buy from a supermarket.”
The woman was later arrested at a home in Belfield and has now been charged and refused bail to face court today.
