Woman seriously burned while refuelling car at Eastern Creek
A woman is in a serious condition after she caught alight while refuelling a car at a racetrack in Sydney’s west.
The 37-year-old has suffered multiple burns to her body and has been airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.
The woman was attending a three-day Powercruise event at Sydney Motorsport Park in Eastern Creek when the incident occurred.
Powercruise advertises that attendees can “do all the things you’re not allowed to do on the streets”.
NSW Ambulance Chief Inspector Brian Parsell tells Ben Fordham the details are still “unclear”.
“The lady was somehow involved in a refuelling process, and for some reason… those flames ignited which resulted in the woman sustaining some very serious burns.”
The woman has been placed in an induced coma and is in a stable condition.
