Woolworths CEO promises to pay more for milk if processors play ball
The CEO of Woolworths has committed to paying more for milk, if processors were to increase the amount they pay Australian dairy farmers.
The supermarket giant has already raised its home brand milk price to $1.10 per litre, with the 10-cent increase going directly to farmers.
Alan Jones has long argued the real issue lies with milk processors who have driven the value of Australian dairy down to unsustainable levels.
“The processor’s been let off the hook,” says Alan.
“None of them will show their face… they’re ripping these people off.”
Woolies boss Brad Banducci tell Alan Jones he will pay more for milk if the processors choose to pay dairy farmers more.
“Yes, absolutely.
“We all need to do our best to address this issue.
“We need to take action.”
But he repeatedly refused to answer what his company is doing to pressure processors into joining the action.
