The Australian Workers Union (AWU) are proposing a resolution to the Labor Party, calling for a tax on unprocessed exports of critical minerals and the creation of a production subsidy scheme.

AWU National Secretary Daniel Walton will address the Sydney Institute tonight, focusing on the manufacturing of critical minerals.

Mr Walton emphasised the abundance of these metals and minerals in Australia, which are crucial for the development of future technology.

“At the moment we’re allowing these opportunities to be dug up, put on a ship and sent overseas,” he told Ray Hadley.
