Laurie Smith has attended every Olympic games since Mexico City in 1968, and after meeting his wife Barbara, they have attended and volunteered together.

They even spent their honeymoon at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984.

Laurie and Barbara have volunteered at five Olympic games, telling Michael McLaren how it’s “fabulous to be in an Olympic village when it’s on”.

“We’d certainly like to go to Paris but I’ll be 76, so I may be getting too old,” joked Laurie.
