Zig Zag Railway back on track after decade-long closure
The Zig Zag Railway, located near Lithgow, has been closed since 2012, but has recently received the safety seal of approval and will reopen to passengers.
After successful testing of the railway’s emergency systems over the weekend, the Office of National Rail Safety Regulation has granted full approval to have it run as a tourist railway.
Zig Zag Railway Operations Manager, Lee Wiggins, told Ray Hadley, “It’s been a long time coming and there have been a lot of challenges to get here.”
“We’ve been testing and doing maintenance for the last 18 months and we’re confident that our systems are maintainable,” said Mr Wiggins.
